It’s been a LOOOONG time since I’ve done anything related to programming. My last game, which I released for OS X 10.2 (I think) was done about eight years ago. I did it while I learned Objective-C and Cocoa, and while I like the idea, the levels weren’t so good… I loved the music though…

In fact, if there’s a game I’ve done I really like that’d be Space Garbage Men, although back then it wasn’t realistic to use a whole mp3 as theme music, so I had to add a .mod player and of course, the song is not that cool… but it had some nice gameplay elements like secret landing spots (I’ve always loved those Lunar Lander games) which lead to secret caves that you had to navigate with a jet pack (I still wonder if anyone ever found one of them… it wasn’t that hard).
After that I only coded a small 1-level demo for a 24h competition. I still think that idea has potential, but I never did more with it. The song was quite catchy too… if a bit too repetitive…
Forward a few years and two kids later and the iOS boom begins. Since I learned the fact that programming for the i devices is very similar to programming for OS X I’ve been wanting to get into it, but I couldn’t get my hands on one of these devices until late last year. It was an iPad2 which I’m really enjoying. Finally I decide to start learning and realize I’m remembering as much as learning new stuff, which is good. So I finally decided to get into the developer program and start for real…
Right now I’m experimenting, doing simple things and small demos. I just started working on what could become my first game and so far I’m liking the results. It’s not a big project, just a simple 2 player “Space War” kind of game with a few twists. It doesn’t even have a name yet… It’s funny… 8 years later and I’m still playing with gravity and 2D space physics… What can I say?
And that’s where I am right now. Excited to finally do something with my programming skills after so long and also sure that whatever happens I’ll have fun. Oh, and working with multitouch is really something! I’ll talk about that soon too….
